Krishna Bhakta Sudama, released in 1968, is a devotional drama film that narrates the story of the friendship between Lord Krishna and his childhood friend Sudama. The film was directed by Chandrakant and stars Biswajeet Chatterjee, Bharat Bhushan, and Master Rajesh in the lead roles. The film recounts the tale of two bosom buddies, Sudama and Krishna, who studied at the same gurukul (sacred institution of learning). Sudama belongs to a poor family, and despite his impoverished condition, he and Krishna develop a close bond. After completing their studies, they part ways, with Sudama going back to his village to tend to his sickly parents and Krishna assuming his duties as the ruler of Mathura.

Years pass, and Sudama's family still lives in poverty. Moved by his wife's advice and inspired by his nostalgia for Krishna, he sets out to visit his friend in Mathura. Sudama hesitates to ask his friend for help but carries with him a handful of rice to present as a gift. On his arrival in Mathura, while he is on his way to meet Krishna, he is teased and bullied by the palace guards. This humiliates Sudama, who has brought rice as a gift for Krishna, but he remains resolute not to ask for help from his friend.

Finally, Sudama reaches Krishna's palace and is warmly welcomed by his childhood friend. Krishna is overjoyed to have his friend after so many years, and he showers loving blessings upon Sudama.

The rest of the story follows the characters as they traverse through a series of events, where Sudama is rewarded for his faithfulness towards his friendship with Krishna, and Krishna comes to Sudama's rescue when his friend is in trouble.

The film has an exceptionally devoted outlook and deals with the theme of human love and friendship that surpasses materialistic boundaries. The script is written in a way that it highlights the themes of humility, perseverance, faith, and gratitude, which are essential cultural values in the Indian tradition.

Biswajeet Chatterjee, who portrays the role of Lord Krishna, does a spectacular job of displaying the god's humanity, compassion, and love towards his friend Sudama. His performance in one of the most important songs of the film, "Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein", remains one of his most notable milestones.

Bharat Bhushan, who plays the character of Sudama, delivers a sterling performance as a sincere and compassionate friend who remains loyal and faithful towards his friendship with Krishna. Master Rajesh, who portrayed the role of young Sudama, also did an excellent job of capturing the essence of the character.

The songs in the film are equally splendid and complement the tone of the storyline with their devotional verses. The music for the movie was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji, and lyrics for the film were penned by Indivar.

Krishna Bhakta Sudama is a movie that brings a deep understanding of the legendary friendship between Sudama and Krishna. The film presents their narrative in a way that is captivating and inspiring to the general audience. Its overall style ranges from finely-tuned acting to soulful music, which together make for a mesmerizing cinematic experience.
