Krishna is smuggled out of the prison by Vasudev and taken to Gokul where he is raised by his foster parents, Nanda and Yashoda. There he meets his best friend Sudama and together, they have several misadventures that include stealing butter, helping the villagers and fighting demons.
Krishna later receives formal education under the guru Sandipani, where he learns about the Vedas, Upanishads, and other scriptures. Meanwhile, Kans becomes increasingly tyrannical and feared by his subjects. He appoints demons like Putana, Bakasura and Trinavarta to kill Krishna.
Krishna, with his extraordinary powers, faces and defeats all the demons sent by Kans. Finally, Krishna confronts Kans in a wrestling match and kills him, fulfilling the prophecy. The film ends with the people of Mathura accepting Krishna as their king.
