King of the Avenue is a 2010 American crime movie that follows the life of a disgruntled street hustler, Taz Michaels, played by Simon Rex. Despite Taz's successful career as a car thief, his life seems empty and void of meaning. He lives his life on the edge and is always on the lookout for the next big score. Taz's life gets flipped on its head when he crosses paths with another thief named Malik, portrayed by Ving Rhames. Malik is a charismatic millionaire car dealer who offers Taz a unique proposition. Malik tells Taz that he will give him a hundred thousand dollars if he can steal a specific car before the day comes to an end. This would be Taz's biggest score ever, and the temptation is too great for him to resist.

With the promise of a big payoff, Taz sets out to steal the car. However, once he gets a hold of it, the car's real owner, a Mexican cocaine dealer, discovers that the car is missing. Taz is caught in the middle of a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, as both the dealer and Malik start to hunt him down.

As the movie progresses, viewers get to see glimpses of Taz's past and how it ties into his present-day predicament. Meanwhile, Malik's character takes an interesting turn, and it soon becomes evident that he is not the hero we were led to believe he was.

Esai Morales portrays the role of Detective Rivera, an officer tasked with investigating the car thefts plaguing the city. He is a man of integrity and a straight shooter, which makes him a formidable foe for the gangsters in the movie.

One of the most striking aspects of King of the Avenue is its setting. The filming locations portray an authentic depiction of the streets of Los Angeles. Director Ryan Combs does a fantastic job of capturing the various neighborhoods, from the bustling downtown city streets to the more rundown and dangerous areas like South Central.

The movie's pace is relentless, and it never gets bogged down with unnecessary subplots. Viewers are taken on a roller coaster ride of action and suspense, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. The cast does a fantastic job of portraying their respective roles, and there is never a dull moment in the movie.

Overall, King of the Avenue is a thrilling crime movie that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end. It is a story about a man who is willing to risk everything to get what he wants, even if it comes at a great cost. The movie is not for the faint of heart, as it contains violence, drug use, and swear words. However, for those who enjoy action-packed movies filled with suspense and drama, King of the Avenue is a must-see.

King of the Avenue is a 2010 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.9.
