Ken Park is a 2002 drama film directed by Larry Clark and Edward Lachman. The film explores the life of teenagers living in a small California town called Visalia. The movie opens with a teenage boy named Ken Park who sits in a skatepark in Visalia, California. He then takes out a gun and shoots himself in the head. The story proceeds to explore the lives of four teenagers who were friends with Ken before his death. These teenagers are Shawn, Tate, Peaches, and Claude. All four of them have issues that affect their daily lives, and each character has a different backstory.

Shawn, played by James Bullard, is a skateboarder who lives with his grandparents. His father is in jail, and his mother abandoned him. He is in a sexual relationship with his girlfriend's mother, Rhonda, and her father, Fred, is not happy about it. Fred beats Shawn when he finds out about their relationship.

Tate, played by James Ransone, is a skateboarding badass who lives with his mom, dad, and sister. His dad, who is a police officer, is incredibly abusive and violent towards his family. Tate finds himself getting violent towards his girlfriend's brother, who is mentally challenged, as a way to work through his anger.

Peaches, portrayed by Tiffany Limos, is a wannabe model who has a strained relationship with her religious parents. She is sexually promiscuous and uses her body as a way to gain attention from others. She has a sexual relationship with her father's best friend, who is married.

Claude, played by Stephen Jasso, comes from a Hispanic family that is overbearing and strict. He has a hard time dealing with the pressures of his culture and the expectations his parents have for him. Claude is also in a sexual relationship with his girlfriend's brother, who has an unrequited love for him.

The movie explores the sexual and emotional struggles these teenagers face in a graphic and often disturbing manner. The movie has several explicit sexual scenes, including masturbation, fellatio, and intercourse. The film also features scenes of drug use, violence, and suicide.

The movie's depiction of sex and nudity is especially controversial, as the film features several explicit sex scenes featuring underage actors. The film also features a scene of animal cruelty, which has also garnered controversy.

The movie's soundtrack features a mix of alternative rock and punk music, including tracks from bands such as The Adolescents, The Flesh Eaters, and The Germs.

Overall, Ken Park is a disturbing and controversial film that explores the darker side of adolescence. The movie is not for the faint of heart and features explicit content that some viewers may find offensive. The film's bleak portrayal of teenage life has divided critics and audiences alike, with some praising the movie's honesty, while others condemning it for its explicit content. If you are looking for a coming-of-age story full of sunshine and rainbows, this is not the movie for you.
