Kemper: The Co-Ed Killer was written by Jack Perez and directed by Rick Bitzelberger. It is based on the true life murders that were committed by convicted serial killer and necrophilia Edmund Kemper. His murdering spree began in the late 1960’s when he brutally murdered his grandparents at the age of 15 years old. This film is centered on the murders he committed after his release from prison in Santa Cruz, California.
The movie opens in the Santa Cruz Police Department with investigators feeling the pressure of trying to solve what appears to be two different serial killers. The lead detective Tom Harris (played by Christopher Stapleton) turns to one of his good friends Edmund Kemper (played by Robert Sisko) for help. Kemper had become friends with many of the Santa Cruz police officers by hanging out at a bar that was frequented by them. He had previously assisted Tom with the capture of another serial killer.
Working together, Kemper and Tom are able to discover who one of the serial killers is by deciphering a message that was sent to Tom. Herbert McCormack is confronted by the both of them and is fatally wounded by Tom. Edmund Kemper than returns home to bludgeon his mother and mutilate a hitchhiker he had captured earlier. The hitchhiker’s body is soon discovered by an abandoned pool and Tom no longer has to try to figure out who the second serial killer is because Kemper calls him and confesses to the murder.
When the word gets out about Tom's association with Kemper, the mayor immediately suspends him from the force. This causes Kemper to go into a rage and abduct another woman. He claims he will kill at least one person a day if Tom is not reinstated. Now it is up to Tom to find his former friend and put an end to the rampage that he is on. This includes reliving the horrid past of Edmund Kemper and all of the lives that he has claimed.
Kemper: The Co-Ed Killer is a 2008 horror movie with a runtime of 1 minute. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.1.
