Kandhan asks for wealth and fame, but Lord Murugan tells him that he will have to suffer for his greed.

In the meantime, the King of the region, Rajasenan (played by M. N. Nambiar), is facing problems due to the presence of a demon named Surapadma (played by S. A. Ashokan). The demon is terrorizing the kingdom, and the King is unable to defeat him. In desperation, the King turns to Kandhan for help.

Kandhan, who has become powerful due to his penance, agrees to help the King. He goes to Surapadma's kingdom and challenges him to a fight. Surapadma accepts the challenge, and the battle between the two begins. During the battle, Kandhan realizes that Surapadma is invincible and can only be defeated with the help of Lord Murugan.

Kandhan then performs another round of intense penance and appeases Lord Murugan. The deity appears before him and grants him a powerful weapon, the Vel, which he can use to defeat Surapadma.
