Kaena: The Prophecy is a 3D animated movie released in 2003 directed by Chris Delaporte and produced by Xilam Animation. The movie introduces us to Kaena, a determined and fearless young girl who lives in a world of eternal light darkness. Kaena's village, the Axis, is located in a giant tree that stretches from the ground and up into the sky, where it eventually meets the clouds. The tree provides nourishment for the villagers and is believed to be the conduit between the people and their gods.

However, their world is threatened by a mysterious entity that they believe is the source of their misfortune, which has caused the tree to stop providing them with fruit. To appease their gods, the priests believe they must make a sacrifice in the form of a young girl like Kaena. They send a group of young girls into the depths of the tree, where they inevitably meet their grisly end.

Kaena, fearing for her safety, decides to venture deeper into the tree to find out why the fruit has stopped growing. Along the way, she encounters a group of mechanical beings known as Selenites who live inside the tree. Their leader, Opaz, who is voiced by Richard Harris, explains to Kaena that their world is not as simple as they once believed.

Opaz tells Kaena that the gods they worship are not divine beings but are, in fact, a group of advanced extraterrestrial beings who have been manipulating them for their own agenda. The Selenites, who were once subservient to the gods, have rebelled against them and now seek to escape their world to a new one.

Kaena is skeptical of Opaz's claims, but her journey of discovery leads her to the truth behind the gods' deception. Anjelica Huston also voices a major character, called Queen of the Selenites, who has a significant role in the story.

The animation used in the movie is quite impressive for its time, especially the way it depicts the world of the Axis, with its intricate designs and use of light and color. The characters also have a unique design, with exaggerated features that leave an impression. Kirsten Dunst does an excellent job of voicing Kaena, bringing out the character's brave and determined personality.

The movie is an interesting blend of science fiction and fantasy, dealing with concepts of religion, the environment, and technology. It is a cautionary tale against blindly following authority and questioning the status quo.

Kaena: The Prophecy might not be the most well-known animated movie, but it deserves recognition for its unique story and stunning visuals. It is an excellent example of how animation can be used to create a fantastical world that can convey complex ideas and themes. Overall, Kaena: The Prophecy is an enjoyable movie with a compelling plot that is worth a watch for any animation fan.

Kaena: The Prophecy is a 2004 animated movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0 and a MetaScore of 40.
