Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is a coming-of-age sports drama film released in 1992, starring Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, and Deepak Tijori in lead roles. The movie was directed by Mansoor Khan and produced by Nasir Hussain. Set in the picturesque town of Dehradun, the movie revolves around the lives of two brothers- Ratan (Mamik Singh) and Sanjay (Aamir Khan)- who are poles apart in terms of personality. While Sanjay is a carefree, happy-go-lucky guy who loves to race his bike and hang out with his friends, Ratan is a responsible elder brother who takes his studies seriously and has his goals fixed on pursuing higher studies in the United States.
The story takes a twist when both brothers fall for the same girl, Sheetal (Ayesha Jhulka), who is the daughter of their college principal. While Sanjay is smitten by her beauty and falls head over heels in love with her, Ratan keeps his feelings for her under wraps as he is already engaged to his girlfriend.
The real drama, however, unfolds when a local college from a nearby town challenges Sanjay's college to a cycling race, which is a matter of great pride for both the colleges. Sanjay, who is an expert cyclist, is chosen to lead his college team, but the team lacks the discipline and training required to win a race of this magnitude.
Sanjay's team comprises of characters who are not natural athletes but are enthusiastic and eager to prove themselves. They include Deepak Tijori as Shekhar, a quiet and introverted guy who works in his dad's garage but is a talented cyclist, Kulbhushan Kharbanda as the college coach, who is a former national cycling champion but has lost his touch, and Pooja Bedi as Devika, who is Shekhar's girlfriend.
Sanjay is initially demotivated with the lack of support from his team and the presence of Ratan, who keeps reminding him about the importance of studies over sports. However, after a pep talk from his girlfriend Anjali (played by Ayesha Jhulka), Sanjay takes up the challenge and starts training his team members in earnest.
The rest of the movie follows the journey of Sanjay and his team as they prepare for the race, overcome personal and professional obstacles, and emerge as winners after an intense and nail-biting race.
Apart from the thrilling bike race, the movie also touches upon several themes, including sibling love, teenage romance, friendship, and the importance of sports in education. The movie's soundtrack, composed by Jatin-Lalit, was a massive hit, with songs like "Pehla Nasha" and "Rooth Ke Humse" becoming chartbusters.
In conclusion, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is an evergreen classic that continues to inspire generations of youngsters. With its endearing characters, beautiful locales, and heartwarming storyline, the movie remains one of the best sports dramas ever made in Indian cinema.
