Jawbone is a 2017 British film that tells the story of a former boxing champion named Jimmy McCabe, played by Johnny Harris. After hitting rock bottom as a result of alcoholism, homelessness, and the death of his mother (Julie Barclay), Jimmy decides to reclaim his life by returning to the boxing ring. The movie begins with Jimmy at his lowest point, sleeping in a shelter and selling his belongings to buy alcohol. He tries to seek help from a boxing club that he used to train in, but the owner, Bill (Ray Winstone), refuses to let Jimmy back in because he thinks Jimmy is too old and too out of shape to fight again. However, Jimmy eventually manages to convince Bill to give him one more chance to prove himself, and he is granted access to the gym.

There, he meets Joe Padgett (Ian McShane), Bill's business partner, who helps Jimmy get back into fighting shape by training him and sparring with him. Joe is a sharp-tongued, no-nonsense trainer who tells it like it is, and his tough love approach to coaching helps Jimmy regain his confidence.

Despite his efforts to get back into the ring, Jimmy faces numerous obstacles along the way. He has to deal with the consequences of his past mistakes, including a number of enemies and debts that he owes to some of the most dangerous people in his hometown. Additionally, he has to compete against younger and more experienced boxers who are hungry for success.

Throughout the film, we see Jimmy's resilience in the face of adversity. He pushes himself to the limit during training, and he perseveres in his quest to turn his life around. We also get a glimpse into his personal life, including his relationship with his estranged daughter, Ellie (Erin Shanagher), and his friendship with his neighbor, Paulie (Michael Smiley), who tries to support him in any way he can.

Jawbone is a gritty and realistic portrayal of a man's struggle to overcome his demons and make something of himself. It's a testament to the power of the human spirit, and it shows that no matter how far we fall, we can always pick ourselves up and keep fighting.

The film is beautifully shot, with stunning visuals and an excellent use of music to create a sense of atmosphere and tension. The performances are top-notch, with Johnny Harris delivering a powerful and moving performance as Jimmy. Ian McShane is also excellent as Joe, bringing a sense of gravitas and authority to his role.

Overall, Jawbone is a must-see film for anyone who appreciates a good sports drama or who enjoys stories of redemption and second chances. It's a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant film that leaves a lasting impression on the viewer.

Jawbone is a 2018 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4.
