The movie was released on October 7, 1994. The story of Jai Kishen revolves around identical twin brothers, Jai and Kishen, who are separated at birth due to unfortunate circumstances. While Jai is raised by a gangster, Kishen is taken in by a honest and respectable police officer, who raises him with good values and principles. The brothers grow up in completely different environments and lead very different lives.

Jai, the elder brother, grows up to be a notorious local goon, who is feared and respected by everyone in the area. He is known for his violent and aggressive nature and is involved in all kinds of criminal activities. On the other hand, Kishen grows up to be a responsible and law-abiding citizen, who follows in his adoptive father's footsteps and becomes a police officer.

When Jai and Kishen finally come face to face after many years, they soon discover their true identities and are overwhelmed with emotion. The rest of the movie follows Kishen's quest to prove his brother's innocence and expose the corrupt officers and politicians who are behind the conspiracy. The performances of the lead cast are top-notch, with Akshay Kumar giving a brilliant performance in his dual roles. He effortlessly portrays the contrasting personalities of Jai and Kishen and delivers a convincing performance that is both intense and emotional. Ayesha Jhulka, who plays the love interest of both brothers, also puts in a solid performance, as does Chandni, who plays the villainous and conniving politician.
