Jackass 2.5 is a 2007 American reality-comedy film and a sequel to the 2006 film Jackass: Number Two. The movie stars the familiar faces of Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Preston Lacy, and Dave England, as well as other members of the Jackass crew. The film is rated R for graphic nudity, language, crude and dangerous stunts, and a whole lot of absurdity.
The plot of Jackass 2.5 is simple: it's a compilation of additional footage and outtakes from the filming of Jackass: Number Two. The movie was released directly to DVD, and serves as a companion piece to the previous two theatrical releases. Almost all of the footage was shot during the time when the crew was filming Jackass: Number Two, but some of it was shot afterwards. This footage features additional pranks, stunts, and antics for which the Jackass crew is known and loved.
The film opens with a warning to the audience that the stunts in the movie should not be attempted at home, and then we are thrown right into the action. The first few scenes are relatively tame, featuring pranks such as Johnny Knoxville dressing up as an old man and pretending to be a grandpa who soils himself while shopping at a store. Soon though, the pranks turn more outrageous, with highlights being Bam Margera launching a giant remote control car on a ramp over a swimming pool, the crew creating a surreal game of baseball using a giant hand as the bat, and Dave England getting chased by a bull.
The movie is essentially a collection of skits, featuring the crew in a range of bizarre and often dangerous situations. Those who have seen the previous films will recognize most of the cast, including Steve-O, Wee-Man, Preston Lacy, and Chris Pontius. There are also some new faces, such as Danger Ehren, who quickly proves himself to be just as wacky and fearless as the rest of the crew.
One of the most memorable scenes involves Chris Pontius dressing up as a giant bird and attempting to fly off a roof using a specially designed harness. The results are predictably absurd, with Pontius flapping his wings and plummeting to the ground. Other memorable stunts include Bam Margera getting chased by a giant alligator, and Steve-O being launched into the air while sitting on a giant rocket.
The cast is clearly having a great time throughout the film, and their infectious energy is one of the reasons why the Jackass franchise remains so popular today. Some of the stunts are undoubtedly dangerous, and there are moments when it's hard to watch as the cast members put themselves in harm's way. But the movie never takes itself too seriously, and the ridiculousness of the stunts is often what makes them so entertaining.
As with the previous films, there is a certain gross-out factor to many of the pranks and stunts in Jackass 2.5. The crew members are not shy about bodily functions and fluids, and there are moments when the movie crosses the line from funny to cringe-inducing. But for those who can stomach it, the movie offers a unique and often hilarious form of entertainment.
Overall, Jackass 2.5 is a worthy addition to the Jackass franchise. While it doesn't have the same impact as the first two theatrical releases, it's still a fun and entertaining movie that will keep fans of the series laughing and cringing in equal measure. It's not for everyone, but for those who enjoy the brand of bizarre and often dangerous humor for which the Jackass franchise is known, this movie is a must-see.
Jackass 2.5 is a 2007 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 4 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4.
