Iyarkai is a Tamil movie from 2003 featuring Shaam, Arun Vijay, and Radhika Kumaraswamy in the lead roles. The movie was directed by S.P. Jananathan and produced by A. E. Abraham V. Rajan. The story revolves around the lives of three friends, Sathya (Shaam), Vinod (Arun Vijay), and Chandru, who live in a coastal village in Tamil Nadu. Sathya is a trained fisherman, Vinod is a carefree guy who is always looking for adventure, and Chandru is a photographer. The three of them have grown up together and have a strong bond-like brotherhood.

Sathya falls in love with a wealthy girl named Janani (Radhika Kumaraswamy) who has come to the village with her friends for a holiday. She initially rejects his proposal, but eventually falls in love with him. However, their love story faces a hurdle as Janani's father disapproves of their relationship due to the difference in their economic status.

Meanwhile, Vinod gets involved in a dangerous smuggling operation, which turns out to be a trap. Vinod is caught by the police and is sent to jail. Sathya and Chandru try to help Vinod, but they fail, and Vinod ends up serving a sentence of five years.

After his release from jail, Vinod discovers that his mother has died, and his father is now living with another woman. He also learns that his father has sold their ancestral property to pay for his bail. Disillusioned by the unfairness of life, Vinod becomes addicted to alcohol and indulges in reckless behavior.

Sathya, who has become a successful fisherman, tries to help Vinod get back on track. He sets up a fishing business for Vinod and helps him get rid of his addiction. Vinod, in turn, helps Sathya win back Janani's love.

The movie highlights the importance of friendship, love, and perseverance in the face of adversity. It also sheds light on the issues faced by coastal communities in India, such as poverty, exploitation, and environmental degradation.

The performance of the lead actors is commendable, especially Shaam and Arun Vijay. Radhika Kumaraswamy shines in her role as Janani. The cinematography by N. K. Ekambaram captures the beauty of the coastal village and adds to the overall appeal of the movie.

The music by Vidyasagar is another highlight of the movie. The songs, especially "Kadhal Vaithu," are still popular among fans of Tamil cinema. The lyrics by Vairamuthu and the vocals by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam add depth to the emotions portrayed in the movie.

Overall, Iyarkai is a well-made movie that explores the complexities of human relationships and the challenges faced by coastal communities in India. It is a must-watch for fans of Tamil cinema who enjoy stories that are both heartwarming and thought-provoking.
