It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown! is a fun animated film based on the beloved Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. Released in 1974, it follows Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang as they prepare for and celebrate Easter. The story opens on the days leading up to Easter. Perpetual good-natured loser Charlie Brown is hoping that this year, he'll finally get a chocolate Easter bunny. His little sister Sally wants Easter eggs. Their friend Linus believes in the mythical Easter Beagle, who he claims brings candy and colored eggs to all the good children on Easter morning. Of course, no one else believes the Easter Beagle is real.
As Easter approaches, the kids get ready by coloring eggs in school and going on an egg hunt. But trusty dog Snoopy's eggs keep disappearing, because he hides them in the same spot every year. Linus convinces Sally to set out her Easter basket for the Easter Beagle to fill with treats overnight.
On Easter morning, everyone wakes up excitedly to see what awaited them from the Easter Beagle. But instead of bounties of candy and eggs, they find little to nothing. Charlie Brown is upset that he didn't get his chocolate bunny again. Sally is angry that the Easter Beagle didn't come. But loyal Linus is convinced that the Easter Beagle did visit them - they just didn't see him.
Linus convinces the gang that they need to go out and search for the Easter Beagle's gifts themselves. This takes them on a funny adventure involving little red-haired Patty's naturally colored Easter eggs and Snoopy's decorated doghouse. Eventually, they end up back at Charlie Brown's house for an Easter dinner with family and friends. Though it's not a perfect Easter, Charlie Brown has learned that it's not about the gifts or candy. Spending it with people you care about is what really matters.
With its lighthearted storyline, relatable characters, and fun animation style, It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown! is an entertaining Easter film for the whole family. Kids and adults alike will enjoy watching Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang scramble to understand the true meaning of Easter. Though a little disappointing at times, their earnest celebration filled with humor and heart reminds us that Easter is about much more than just candy and egg hunts.
