In Search of Gregory is a British drama film from 1969 directed by Peter Wood and starring Julie Christie, John Hurt, and Michael Sarrazin. The story follows the journey of a young woman named Catherine Morelli (played by Christie) as she embarks on a quest to find a man named Gregory (Sarrazin), who she met and fell in love with years ago. Along the way, she meets a troubled young man named Daniel (Hurt) who joins her in her search.

The film begins with Catherine working as a waitress in London and feeling dissatisfied with her life. One day, while serving breakfast to a handsome stranger named Gregory, she feels an instant connection with him. They spend the day together wandering around the city and talking about their hopes and dreams. However, when Catherine suggests they meet again, Gregory mysteriously disappears.

Years later, Catherine is still haunted by her brief encounter with Gregory and decides to leave her mundane life behind to search for him. She travels to Greece, where she believes he may be living, and meets Daniel, a sensitive and troubled young man who is also searching for something.

The two begin a tumultuous journey together through the picturesque Greek landscape, encountering a cast of eccentric characters along the way. They stay in a villa owned by a wealthy woman who is obsessed with death, meet a group of hippies living in a cave, and even get caught up in a local wedding celebration.

Throughout the film, Catherine and Daniel's relationship evolves as they try to help each other overcome their individual demons. Catherine is determined to find Gregory, but as the search goes on, she begins to realize that her obsession with him may be preventing her from finding happiness in other areas of her life.

The film is carried by the outstanding performances of its lead actors, especially Julie Christie as the determined and conflicted Catherine. John Hurt is equally impressive as the brooding and troubled Daniel, and Michael Sarrazin makes a brief but memorable appearance as the elusive Gregory.

The film is also notable for its stunning cinematography, which captures the beauty and exoticism of the Greek landscape. The soundtrack, featuring music by Donovan and The Zombies, adds to the film's dreamlike atmosphere.

In Search of Gregory is a thought-provoking and visually stunning film that explores themes of love, obsession, and self-discovery. Though it may be slow-paced at times, the film's strong performances and beautiful setting make it a worthwhile watch.
