Once inside the prison, Kyle finds that he is not only surrounded by violent and ruthless inmates, but also by corrupt guards who play by their own rules. He quickly learns that the only way to survive in this hellish environment is to fight back with all he's got.
With the help of his fellow prisoners, Kyle begins to train for the brutal fights that take place in the prison. He also strikes up a friendship with a fellow inmate named 451 (played by Lawrence Taylor), who teaches him the lay of the land and helps him plan his escape.

Kyle sees an opportunity in Vargas' offer, realizing that if he can win enough fights, he might be able to negotiate his release. However, Kyle soon realizes that the price of freedom may be higher than he ever imagined, as Vargas' fights often end in death.
