Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language period comedy film directed by Chimbu Deven. It stars Vadivelu in the dual roles of a king and a common man who look alike, Nassar in the role of the prime minister, and veteran actor Nagesh in a supporting role. The film is set in the fictional kingdom of Pulikecei, which is ruled by the benevolent king Ukkirapandi (Vadivelu). The kingdom is prosperous and the people love their king. However, Ukkirapandi's prime minister (Nassar) is secretly plotting to overthrow him and seize the throne for himself. To achieve his goal, the prime minister hatches a diabolical plan â he sends the king away on a pilgrimage, and in his place, installs a look-alike commoner named Kaaveri (also played by Vadivelu) as the new king.
Kaaveri is a simple-minded man who finds himself thrust into a world of intrigue and politics. He is aided by a band of rebels who are fighting against the prime minister's tyranny, including the beautiful princess Manimozhi (Monicka), who falls in love with him. Together, they must thwart the prime minister's plans and restore the rightful king to the throne.
The film is a riotous comedy that pokes fun at various aspects of Indian culture and politics. Vadivelu is the heart and soul of the film, delivering a tour-de-force performance in both of his roles. He is particularly hilarious as Kaaveri, the bumbling commoner who is constantly getting himself into trouble. Nassar is equally impressive as the cunning prime minister, chewing the scenery with relish.
The film's production values are also top-notch, with elaborate sets and costumes that transport the viewer to another time and place. The music, composed by SabeshâMurali, is catchy and helps set the film's playful tone.
Overall, Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei is a delightful comedy that is sure to entertain audiences of all ages. It is a testament to Vadivelu's talent as a comedian and a testament to Chimbu Deven's skill as a director. If you're looking for a fun, lighthearted film that doesn't take itself too seriously, then this is the movie for you.
