This film is based on the award-winning novel by Lawrence Thornton about a couple, Cecilia and Carlos, living through the last military dictatorship in Argentina from the mid-70s to 1983. During this ominous and dark time, suffering, rape and torture were commonplace if citizens went against the government. When Cecilia disappears after being kidnapped by the secret police for writing a provocative article, her husband Carlos goes on a frantic search for her. As he tries to find his wife, Carlos realizes he has acquired the power to predict the future, which he uses in order to find Cecilia and help others who have also lost loved ones.
