Idhaya Thirudan is a 2006 Tamil romantic drama film directed by Saran and starring Jayam Ravi, Kamna Jethmalani, and Nassar in lead roles. The film tells the story of Selva (Jayam Ravi), who falls in love with his friend's sister, Nandhini (Kamna Jethmalani) and their struggles to overcome various obstacles to be together. Selva is a carefree youngster whose life revolves around his friends and their fun-filled activities. His friend Arun (Srikant) has a sister named Nandhini, whom Selva meets one day and falls in love with her. However, Nandhini does not reciprocate the same feelings and sees Selva only as a friend. Selva decides to impress Nandhini and win her heart, but things take a turn when Nandhini falls in love with someone else and gets engaged.
Selva is heartbroken by the news but decides to move on with his life. However, fate has other plans for him as he meets Nandhini again, this time as a nurse treating his father (Nassar), who is a cancer patient. Selva and Nandhini get closer and become good friends, but Selva still has feelings for her. Meanwhile, Nandhini's fiance turns out to be a fraud and cheats on her, leaving her heartbroken and shattered.
As Nandhini struggles to cope with her breakup, Selva becomes her pillar of support and helps her recover from the emotional trauma. However, their friendship is met with resistance from Nandhini's family, who see Selva as just a friend and not a suitable match for their daughter. Selva's father also disapproves of his relationship with Nandhini and wants him to focus on his career instead.
The rest of the film revolves around Selva's efforts to win Nandhini's family and his own father's approval and convince them that he is the perfect match for Nandhini. Selva faces several challenges along the way, but his love for Nandhini persists, and he never gives up on their relationship.
Jayam Ravi delivers a convincing performance as Selva, a romantic and charming youngster who is determined to win his love's heart. Kamna Jethmalani shines as Nandhini, a strong and independent woman who is vulnerable and emotional at the same time. Nassar is excellent as Selva's father, who is suffering from cancer and wants his son to focus on his career.
The film's music, composed by Vidyasagar, is a major highlight and features some melodious tracks that add to the film's romantic feel. The cinematography by Arthur A. Wilson is impressive and brings a visual grandeur to the film's romantic scenes.
Overall, Idhaya Thirudan is a heartwarming romantic drama that explores the complexities of love, friendship, and family relationships. It has a good mix of emotions, humour, and drama and keeps you engaged throughout. This film is a great watch for Jayam Ravi fans and for those who enjoy romantic dramas.
