Iceman is a thrilling drama from 1984 that follows the discovery of an ancient man frozen in the ice. The movie stars Timothy Hutton as Dr. Stanley Shephard, a curious anthropologist who is part of a scientific expedition in the Arctic. While his team is exploring the frozen tundra, they come across a prehistoric man who has been preserved in ice for thousands of years. Shephard convinces his team to bring the frozen body back to their lab for further study, which sets off a chain of events that no one could have foreseen.

As the scientists work to thaw the man out, they realize that he is unlike anything they have ever seen before. He is perfectly preserved, but he does not appear to be human. In fact, he seems to be from a completely different species altogether. Shephard becomes obsessed with studying the man, whose advanced physiology inspires both awe and fear in the scientists. Their attempts to communicate with him are fruitless, as he does not seem to understand their language or methods of communication.

As the days go by, tensions rise within the team. Shephard becomes more and more emotionally invested in the discovery of the man, which causes him to clash with the other members of the team. Meanwhile, a rival team of scientists arrives on the scene, led by Dr. Singe, played by Lindsay Crouse. She is determined to steal the discovery from Shephard's team and prevent their research from being published.

The conflict between Shephard and Singe heats up, and the mysterious man becomes a pawn in their power struggle. As they continue to study the prehistoric man, they start to uncover secrets about his civilization and society that challenge their fundamental beliefs about the world. However, the discovery of these secrets also puts the lives of the scientists in danger, as they realize that the man is the last surviving member of a powerful and advanced group of beings.

Iceman is a thought-provoking and suspenseful movie that explores themes of power, knowledge, and what it means to be human. The movie is beautifully shot, with stunning scenery of the frozen Arctic tundra that creates an atmospheric backdrop for the scientific drama. The performances of the cast are exceptional, with Timothy Hutton shining as the obsessive and conflicted Dr. Shephard. Lindsay Crouse is equally impressive as his rival, bringing a cold determination to her character that makes her a formidable foe.

The movie is not without its flaws, however. At times, the pacing feels slow, and the plot can be confusing for viewers who are not familiar with scientific terminology. Additionally, the ending may leave some viewers feeling unsatisfied, as the filmmakers leave many questions unanswered. Despite these criticisms, Iceman is a must-see movie for fans of science fiction and drama. It is a fascinating exploration of the human condition and the limits of human knowledge, with a thrilling plot and strong performances that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Iceman is a 1984 science fiction movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1 and a MetaScore of 62.
