Iced is a 1989 slasher film in which a group of skiers goes on a weekend getaway to a ski resort that a young woman named Trina (Debra De Liso) inherited from her parents. Trina is a talented skier, but her friends are varying levels of abilities, and the resort's slope is far more challenging than they anticipated. While it's a perfect snow weekend, as the darkness sets in, someone starts stalking them, and the vacation turns into a horrific nightmare.

The group arrives at the resort, and we quickly learn that Trina is dealing with the loss of her parents. However, she puts on a brave face in front of her friends and plans for them to have a fun weekend of skiing, partying, and hanging out. The group starts skiing, and we see that they are seriously out of their depth on the steep and icy slopes. They decide to take a break and head back to the cabin, but when they get there, they find that someone has ransacked the place.

At night, they decide to have a party, and we see that someone is watching them in the dark. That person soon starts stalking and attacking them one by one, using their skis, knives, and other tools at the resort to kill them. Soon, Trina and her friends realize that they are in serious danger and must find out who the killer is before it's too late.

Throughout the film, we see flashbacks to Trina's past, when her parents owned the resort, and she was a happy and carefree girl who loved skiing. However, now that she's come back as an adult, the place and memories only bring sadness and fear. Trina is the last one standing, and in a final showdown with the killer (who we won't reveal here), she must face her fears and use all of her skiing skills to survive.

Iced is an '80s slasher film through and through, with all the expected tropes: a group of young people in a remote location, killer on the loose, an excellent body count, and, of course, gratuitous sex and nudity. The small cast is well-chosen, and many of them do a great job portraying the fear, panic, and confusion that would come from being hunted down by a psychopath. The film's setting, a ski resort in the middle of winter, adds an extra layer of terror, as the group is often isolated and cut off from the outside world by the snow and cold.

What Iced does exceptionally well is showcasing its female lead. Debra De Liso is both athletic and vulnerable, creating a compelling character we're rooting for to stay alive. Her moments of strength and courage feel earned and justified, while her moments of fear and uncertainty are genuine, never veering into a cheesy or annoying territory. While the film doesn't break any new ground and doesn't have the most original plot, it sports a solid script and an effective execution of scares.

In conclusion, Iced is an entertaining and pulse-pounding slasher film that delivers on all the right beats. It's perfect for anyone looking to revel in some '80s nostalgia and witness a genuinely entertaining horror flick. Despite the time that has passed, it stands as proof that some classic slasher tropes can be effective and offer audiences a good scare.
