I Love You, Don't Touch Me is a 1997 romantic comedy directed by Julie Davis, who also wrote the screenplay and stars in a supporting role. The film tells the story of a young woman named Katie (Marla Schaffel) who is struggling to find love and meaning in her life. Katie is a struggling singer-songwriter living in Los Angeles. She dreams of making it big in the music industry, but the most success she has had so far is writing a catchy jingle for a toilet bowl cleaner. In her personal life, Katie has a string of unsuccessful relationships behind her and is feeling disillusioned with the dating scene.

One day, Katie meets Ben (Mitchell Whitfield), a nerdy but charming computer game designer. Despite their differences, they hit it off and start dating, much to the chagrin of Katie's best friend Tracy (Meredith Scott Lynn), who is skeptical of Ben's intentions. As Katie and Ben's relationship progresses, they struggle to overcome their insecurities and trust issues.

Meanwhile, Katie is also dealing with family drama. Her mother (Renee Taylor) is constantly setting her up on dates with men she thinks are suitable, but Katie finds them all dull and uninteresting. Her father (Michael Harris), who is a successful music producer, is distant and critical of her career choices. Katie's brother Joel (Jorge Alberti) is in a committed relationship with his boyfriend, but their conservative Cuban parents are unaware of their son's sexuality.

As Katie navigates these various challenges, she also tries to figure out what it is she really wants out of life. Should she continue to pursue her music career or give up on her dreams? Is Ben really the right man for her, or is she just settling for someone because she's afraid of ending up alone?

I Love You, Don't Touch Me is a quirky, charming film that explores the complexities of modern romance and the struggle to find one's place in the world. The performances are top-notch, particularly Schaffel as the witty and relatable protagonist. The film features several humorous musical numbers that add a lighthearted touch to the proceedings.

Overall, I Love You, Don't Touch Me is an entertaining and heartfelt romantic comedy that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt lost or unfulfilled in love or in life.
