House of Whipcord is a gripping and disturbing horror movie from the early 1970s. Directed by the cult filmmaker Pete Walker and starring Barbara Markham, Patrick Barr, and Ray Brooks, the movie tells the story of a group of young women who are abducted and imprisoned in a sinister mansion by a deranged family of sadists. The plot of House of Whipcord is both simple and effective. The movie opens with a young couple, Ann-Marie and Terry, who are out late at night and decide to explore an abandoned house in the countryside. However, they are startled by an old woman who appears out of nowhere and warns them about the dangers of trespassing. Ignoring her warning, they continue to explore the house and soon find themselves trapped in a nightmare.

The old woman they encountered is actually the matriarch of the Thorne family, Mrs. Thorne, who is a strict and moralistic woman obsessed with punishing young women who she perceives as immoral. She has turned her mansion into a prison, where she houses and tortures young women who have been convicted of various crimes such as prostitution, drug use, and promiscuity.

Ann-Marie and Terry are soon caught by the Thorne family and separated. Ann-Marie is imprisoned in the house along with several other young women, including a model, a drug addict, and a runaway teenager. Mrs. Thorne and her family then proceed to carry out their twisted sense of justice, punishing the girls for their perceived moral crimes.

However, Ann-Marie refuses to be broken by their brutal methods and fights back against the family. She forms an alliance with Mark E. Desade, a law professor who is investigating the disappearance of his students who have also fallen prey to the Thorne family.

The tension and suspense are palpable throughout the entire movie as the young women are subjected to increasingly brutal punishments at the hands of their captors. The sadistic nature of the Thorne family is both disturbing and captivating, and the audience is kept in suspense wondering if the girls will ever be able to escape the horrors of the mansion.

The performances of the actors are strong, particularly that of Barbara Markham, who gives a fantastic portrayal of Mrs. Thorne. She exudes a cold and calm authority as the head of the family, while at the same time being completely deranged in her sense of justice. Ray Brooks is also excellent as Mark E. Desade, the dedicated and determined law professor who is determined to uncover the truth about the Thorne family and save the girls.

Overall, House of Whipcord is a classic horror movie that still holds up today. It's a film that is both unnerving and fascinating, a twisted story of imprisonment and punishment that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. If you're a fan of classic horror movies or looking to get into the horror genre, House of Whipcord is a must see.
