Hoot is a 2006 American family comedy-drama film based on the Carl Hiaasen novel of the same name. The movie stars Logan Lerman, Luke Wilson, and Brie Larson in the lead roles. Roy meets Mullet Fingers's stepsister, Beatrice Leep (Brie Larson), and learns that Mullet Fingers is trying to save a group of endangered burrowing owls from a pancake house construction project. Beatrice and Mullet Fingers have been trying to sabotage the construction project by vandalizing the site as well as throwing sludge on the construction manager's car.

Roy decides to help them and joins forces with Beatrice and Mullet Fingers to save the burrowing owls. They decide to expose the construction company's illegal activities and save the owls. They also plan to build a fake owl burrow to mislead the construction workers.

As the plot thickens, Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice are caught and pursued by Officer David Delinko (Luke Wilson), who is the school's security guard, as well as a police officer. However, Officer David Delinko eventually realizes that they are doing the right thing and joins their cause.

The movie ends with the construction company's illegal activities exposed and the burrowing owls saved. Roy is no longer an outcast, and he has made two friends in Beatrice and Mullet Fingers.
