Hooba! On The Trail of the Marsupilami (Sur la piste du Marsupilami) is a French adventure-comedy film from 2012, directed by Alain Chabat who also starred in the movie alongside Jamel Debbouze and Fred Testot. The movie is based on the famous French comic book character Marsupilami by cartoonist André Franquin. The story unfolds around a journalist named Dan Geraldo (played by Debbouze) who travels to Palombia, a fictional South American country, in search of a famous scoop. He teams up with a local guide, an eccentric animal lover named Pablito Camaron (played by Testot), who helps him navigate the jungle. Along the way, they get embroiled in an adventure that involves a crazy billionaire, a lost temple, ancient artifacts, and, of course, the elusive Marsupilami.

Initially, Geraldo is skeptical about the existence of the Marsupilami, a yellow-spotted creature with a long tail and incredible strength, which is rumored to live in the jungle. However, as he learns more about the legend and sees the creature in action, he starts to believe in its existence. His pursuit of the Marsupilami has him facing many challenges, from dealing with snakes to avoiding falling rocks.

Meanwhile, a wealthy industrialist, named Hunt (played by Chabat), has his own agenda in Palombia. He wants to discover the secret of a lost civilization and use its technology for his own purposes. To do this, he enlists the help of a scientist, Dr. Pablito (also played by Chabat). Geraldo and Pablito Camaron cross paths with Hunt and his team on their quest for the Marsupilami, leading to a series of hilarious encounters.

The movie is filled with slapstick humor and winks to the Franco-Belgian comic book tradition, with nods to other comics like Tintin and Spirou. The use of CGI is impressive, with the Marsupilami being flawlessly integrated into the live-action sequences. Another standout element of the movie is the performance of the three main actors. Debbouze brings his trademark humor to the role of Geraldo, while Testot shines as the enthusiastic Pablito Camaron. Chabat steals the show with his dual role as both the villainous Hunt and the kooky scientist Dr. Pablito.

Overall, Hooba! On The Trail of the Marsupilami (Sur la piste du Marsupilami) is an enjoyable adventure-comedy that should entertain audiences of all ages. It's a fun tribute to a beloved character from the world of Franco-Belgian comics, and Alain Chabat's direction and performance add an extra level of charm to the movie.
