In one hour this film covers the entire story of animal film and television star, Lassie. Lassie's tale began in 1938 when Eric Knight's story about a heroic Collie was published in The Saturday Evening Post. It was so popular, Knight turned the story into a novel called Lassie Come Home. By 1943, the book became a movie. After the release of seven Lassie films, Lassie became a television series. Lassie debuted in 1954 as the Collie of a boy named Jeff Miller. In more than a half a century of television, Lassie went through many masters and format changes.
