Himapatha is a 1985 Kannada film starring the legendary actor Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini in lead roles. The film was directed by T.S. Nagabharana and produced by Sunanda Murthy. It was a socio-political drama that revolved around the bonding between a father and son amidst political turmoil. The story is set in a small village in Karnataka where Ramachandra, a school teacher, and his son Madhava were living a peaceful life. Madhava was a brilliant student with a love for books and writing. However, things take a drastic turn when Madhava's school is shut down due to a lack of funding. This sets the stage for the entry of a businessman named Bhairappa, who is interested in setting up a factory in the village. Bhairappa is initially welcomed by the villagers, but soon it is revealed that his intentions are not entirely pure.

Bhairappa is aided by a local politician named Naidu, who is notorious for his corrupt ways. The two of them hatch a plan to take over the village and destroy anyone who stands in their way. This includes Ramachandra, who is not too pleased with Bhairappa's activities. Ramachandra urges Madhava to take up the mantle and fight for the rights of the villagers.

Madhava transforms from a quiet, introverted boy to a bold and fearless leader. He rallies the villagers against Bhairappa and Naidu and starts a campaign to save their land from being taken over. Madhava's words strike a chord with the villagers, who see him as their saviour. Meanwhile, Bhairappa and Naidu are getting increasingly frustrated at the resistance they are facing.

As the conflict intensifies, Ramachandra becomes increasingly worried for his son's safety. He pleads with Madhava to abandon his crusade and return to his studies. But Madhava is determined to see the fight through, even if it means putting himself in harm's way. The climax of the film sees Madhava facing off against Bhairappa and Naidu, with the fate of the village hanging in the balance.

Himapatha was a landmark film in Kannada cinema that dealt with themes of social justice and political corruption. Vishnuvardhan gave a powerhouse performance as Ramachandra, a father torn between the safety of his son and the greater good. Suhasini played Madhava's love interest and brought a much-needed feminine touch to the film. The film's supporting cast, including Dinesh and Ramesh Bhat, also gave excellent performances.

Himapatha was critically acclaimed and won several awards, including the Best Film and Best Director awards at the Karnataka State Film Awards. The film also had a successful run at the box office and is considered a cult classic today. Its message of standing up against injustice and fighting for what is right is as relevant today as it was back in 1985.

Himapatha is a 1995 drama with a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
