High School is a 2010 American stoner comedy film directed by John Stalberg Jr. and starring Matt Bush, Sean Marquette, and Adrien Brody. The film was the debut feature from Stalberg Jr., who co-wrote the screenplay with Erik Linthorst and Stephen Susco. The plot of the film revolves around high school student Henry Burke (Matt Bush) as he prepares for his final exams and future college education. However, when he and his stoner friend Travis Breaux (Sean Marquette) discover that a past mistake has resulted in a mandatory drug test for the entire student body, they hatch a plan to get everyone high in order to beat the test. Along the way, they enlist the help of drug dealer Psycho Ed (Adrien Brody), who proves to be more than they bargained for.

The film is set in a typical suburban high school, with its clichéd characters and cliques. The jocks, the nerds, the cheerleaders, and everyone else are all present and accounted for. Henry and Travis are not particularly exceptional, with Henry focused on his studies and Travis content to coast through high school on a haze of marijuana smoke.

As the drug test looms closer, Henry and Travis come up with a plan to bake a batch of brownies that are laced with potent marijuana. They plan to distribute the brownies to everyone in the school in order to get enough positive drug tests to render the entire process null and void. Along the way, they cross paths with a conniving drug dealer, Psycho Ed, who agrees to supply the marijuana for their scheme.

Psycho Ed, played by Adrien Brody, steals every scene he's in, with his over-the-top portrayal of a drug dealer who takes himself far too seriously. He is wildly unpredictable and prone to fits of violence, which adds a level of danger to the otherwise light-hearted film. Brody's dedication to this oddball character is a highlight of the film.

The movie leans heavily into stoner comedy, with plenty of references to drug culture and general debauchery. While some of the humor may be off-putting to those not inclined to enjoy stoner humor, overall the film is funny and enjoyable.

Despite its light-hearted tone, High School does touch on some deeper themes such as the pressure to perform well in school and the lengths some students will go to in order to achieve success. While this theme is not explored in great depth, it adds some much-needed depth to what could otherwise be a forgettable teen comedy.

Overall, High School is an entertaining stoner comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. The performances, particularly Adrien Brody's, are all enjoyable and there are enough laughs to make it worth a watch if you enjoy this genre of film. Fans of Harold and Kumar or Cheech and Chong movies will find plenty to enjoy here.

High School is a 2010 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 31.
