By age 12, Bob Purzycki was one of the best bowlers in the country. He was set to compete at the world's Fair in 1964 in Queens. Two days before, a neighborhood kid hit Bob in the face with a mallet and crushed the side of his head. Bob permanently lost the vision in his left eye. Despite everyone telling him to give up, Bob trained to bowl with one eye. By his 18th birthday, his game had improved to a 220 average, an score that was unheard of in 1970. After getting involved with drugs, getting mixed up with the Mafia, and doing jail time, he went on to play in the Super Bowl High Roller in Vegas. He won the grand prize beating the best bowlers in the world and became champion at 47.
