Hammerhead is a British crime thriller film that was released in 1968. It was directed by David Miller and stars Vince Edwards as an American agent named Charles Hood who is tasked with investigating the activities of a wealthy businessman named Mr. Hammer (Peter Vaughan). Hood is initially hesitant to accept the mission, but he is persuaded by his boss to take on the case. Hood is briefed on the criminal underworld in London and the activities Mr. Hammer is involved in, including blackmail, counterfeiting, and drug smuggling. Hood is also informed that Mr. Hammer is involved in a complex scheme to steal artwork from the British government.

Hood begins his investigation by posing as a wealthy investor who is interested in Mr. Hammer's business ventures. He soon meets a British woman named Sue Trenton (Judy Geeson), who is working as Mr. Hammer's secretary. Sue is immediately attracted to Hood, and the two begin a romantic relationship. Hood uses this relationship to gain access to Mr. Hammer's inner circle and to gather information about his criminal activities.

As Hood delves deeper into Mr. Hammer's affairs, he discovers that his boss has been killed, and he becomes the target of an assassin. In the meantime, Sue finds herself caught up in Mr. Hammer's schemes and is kidnapped by his men. Hood must race against time to find Sue and to prevent Mr. Hammer from carrying out his plans.

The film features some exciting chase scenes and fight scenes as Hood battles his way through Mr. Hammer's henchmen. There are also some tense moments as Hood tries to outsmart Mr. Hammer and his network of criminals.

The performances of the three leads are excellent. Vince Edwards is convincing as the suave and tough American agent. He brings a sense of urgency and danger to his performance, making him a compelling protagonist. Judy Geeson is also impressive as the love interest. She is both vulnerable and strong, making her character sympathetic and relatable. Peter Vaughan is excellent as the villain, Mr. Hammer. He exudes a sense of cool, calculated evil that makes him a formidable foe for Hood.

The film is well shot, with some beautiful scenes of London and some impressive action sequences. The music is also notable, with a groovy, jazz-inspired score that perfectly captures the atmosphere of the era.

Overall, Hammerhead is an entertaining crime thriller that is well worth watching. It has all the elements of a classic spy story - intrigue, action, romance - and is anchored by some strong performances from its cast. If you're a fan of British crime films from the 60s, then this is definitely one to check out.
