Guru is a Hindi drama film released in 2007, directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by G.Srinivasan. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles. The movie is set in the 1950s, and it follows the rise of a young man named Gurukant "Guru" Desai (Abhishek Bachchan), who comes from a small village in Gujarat to Bombay in search of better opportunities. With a bagful of ideas and dreams, he arrives at the city with a will of steel but only a few coins in his pocket.

As soon as he reaches Bombay, he realizes that getting ahead in life takes more than just hard work and determination. Undeterred, he starts working in his uncle's spice shop and soon establishes a small business of his own. With his sharp business acumen and unique approach to business, he manages to turn his small business venture into a multimillion-dollar empire.

The film follows Guru's life story, from his struggles to establish himself in Bombay to his eventual downfall due to allegations of wrongdoing. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays the role of Sujata, Guru's wife, who stands by him through thick and thin. Mithun Chakraborty plays the role of Manikdas Gupta, a seasoned journalist who mentors and supports Guru throughout his journey.

The movie weaves in themes of ambition, entrepreneurship, corruption, and love. It portrays the cut-throat world of business and the lengths one may go to succeed in such an environment. While Guru takes risks and bends the rules to establish himself, it is not without consequences. He faces the wrath of the government, the media, and his competitors, which ultimately leads to his downfall.

The film has a compelling storyline and the performances of the lead actors are commendable. Abhishek Bachchan is exceptional in the titular role, portraying Guru's drive, determination, and ruthlessness with equal conviction. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also delivers a commendable performance as Sujata, who not only stands by her husband but also supports him in his business ventures.

The film's music, composed by A. R. Rahman, is another highlight of the movie. The songs "Barso Re" and "Tere Bina" were both chartbusters and continue to be popular even today.

Overall, Guru is a well-crafted film that offers a glimpse into the world of business and the price one may pay to succeed in it. With excellent performances, a gripping storyline, and soul-stirring music, the movie is a must-watch for all those who love Hindi cinema.
