Guru En Aalu is a Tamil romantic-comedy film released in 2009, directed by Selva and produced by K. R. Gangadharan. The movie stars Madhavan, Abbas, and Mamta Mohandas in lead roles, while Vivek and Brinda Parekh appear in supporting roles. The movie is a remake of the Hindi film Yes Boss (1997), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.
The film revolves around Guru (Madhavan), who dreams of becoming a successful business person. However, he is stuck in his job as an assistant to a small-time photographer (Vivek), who asks him to take compromising pictures of women for money. Guru is uncomfortable with this, but unable to quit due to financial constraints.
Guru's life takes a turn when he meets his new boss, Prasad (Abbas), a wealthy businessman who is smitten by Guru's talent and hard work. Prasad assigns Guru to look after his sister Risha's (Mamta Mohandas) business, which involves exporting silk sarees to foreign countries. Guru works hard and makes the business successful, impressing Prasad.
However, things take a twist when Prasad starts making advances towards Risha, who is already in a relationship with a foreigner named Adam. Prasad blackmails Guru, threatening to ruin his career if he doesn't break Risha's relationship with Adam and make her fall in love with Prasad.
Guru is torn between his loyalty towards his boss and his conscience, which tells him that Prasad's actions are unethical. He tries to convince Risha to dump Prasad, but she refuses to listen to him. Meanwhile, Guru's girlfriend, Seema (Brinda Parekh), gets jealous of Risha and misunderstands Guru's intentions towards her.
The rest of the movie revolves around Guru's attempts to expose Prasad's true nature to Risha and get her out of danger. Along the way, Guru faces many hurdles, including a kidnapping attempt, a misunderstanding with his boss, and a painful breakup with Seema.
The movie is filled with comedy, romance, and drama, with Madhavan excelling in his role as Guru. Abbas also gives a convincing performance as the suave and cunning Prasad, while Mamta Mohandas impresses with her portrayal of Risha, a strong and independent woman.
The movie's music by Srikanth Deva is catchy and adds to the fun quotient of the film. The song "Kichu Kichu Thambulam" is a chartbuster, with Madhavan's dance moves and Vivek's hilarious antics providing much entertainment.
Overall, Guru En Aalu is a fun and entertaining film that is perfect for a lazy weekend watch. The movie touches upon several themes, including ethics in the workplace, the burden of loyalty, and the importance of standing up for what is right. The well-written screenplay, solid performances, and engaging storyline make this movie worth recommending to all romantic-comedy fans.
