Gringo is a 2018 action-comedy film directed by Nash Edgerton and starring Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron, and David Oyelowo. The film centers on Harold Soyinka (Oyelowo), a mild-mannered businessman who finds himself in trouble when he travels to Mexico to oversee the production of a new medical marijuana compound. As the film opens, we see Harold struggling with his work and personal life. His wife, Bonnie (Thandie Newton), is leaving him, and his job at a Chicago-based pharmaceutical company is not going well. However, he sees a glimmer of hope when he is sent to Mexico to help oversee the production of a new medical marijuana product. Harold views this as his chance to prove himself to his boss, Richard Rusk (Joel Edgerton), and to save his job.

Once in Mexico, Harold discovers that things are not as they seem. The production of the marijuana compound is being run by a ruthless cartel, led by the menacing and dangerous Black Panther (Carlos Corona), who is determined to protect his turf at all costs. Harold quickly finds himself in over his head, caught up in a web of lies and deceit as he tries to stay alive and get back to the United States.

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Richard and his partner Elaine (Charlize Theron) have their own agenda. They are plotting to sell the entire company to a group of German businessmen, and they believe that Harold's kidnapping could be just the leverage they need to close the deal. As the situation in Mexico escalates, Richard and Elaine begin to feel the pressure to save their own skins, no matter what it takes.

Throughout the course of the film, we see Harold struggle to survive in a foreign country, surrounded by ruthless criminals and corrupt businessmen. He is forced to confront his own fears and weaknesses, and to discover a strength he never knew he had. Along the way, he also forms unexpected alliances with his fellow hostages, including the tough-talking Sunny (Amanda Seyfried), who may hold the key to their freedom.

Gringo is a fast-paced, action-packed film with plenty of humor and heart. The performances by the cast are excellent, with Oyelowo delivering a standout performance as the unlikely hero. Theron is also excellent as the cold and calculating Elaine, while Edgerton is convincing as the slimy and amoral Richard. The film is expertly directed by Nash Edgerton, who blends suspense, humor, and drama to create a thoroughly entertaining experience.

Overall, Gringo is a highly entertaining film that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It is a clever and well-crafted action-comedy that is sure to appeal to a wide range of audiences. Whether you are a fan of action movies, comedies, or just looking for a fun night at the movies, Gringo is definitely worth checking out.
