The movie Goodbye, Mr. Chips follow Arthur Chipping who is a Latin teacher. The movie is set pew World War II. He is not popular with the student at the high school that he teaches at. Over break he takes a vacation and meets a woman named Katherine. She is lonely as well and the two hit it off. By the start of the new school year the couple is married. Mr. Chipping’s mood has improved and now he is well liked by many of the students. Katherine has a sketchy past and some financial issues. These issues keeps Chippings from being named the headmaster of the school. The couple remains married even thought they face many difficulties. Katherine is killed when the army base she is working at is bombed during the war. Chipping is sad but he is finally able to be head of the school. His students provide him support and he lives out the rest of his day in happiness.
