Every summer, Gus (Danny Glover) and Joe (Joe Pesci) take a fishing trip and this year is no different, except for the fact that they are heading to the Florida glades. The two friends know each other all their lives and even live next to each other with their wives and children. After being on the road for an eternity, they stop for breakfast, which is where things take a different turn. As they place their breakfast order, a con man from the next booth befriends them and eventually steals their car, leaving the boat behind and the pair must continue their trip on foot.
Rita (Rosanna Arquette) and Angie (Lynn Whitfield) are after the same conman, who stole some jewelry from Rita's mother. They stop for a bite to eat at the same restaurant and just miss Joe and Gus. The waitress explains the events to them and they quickly catch up with the friends, who are pushing their boat to the water.
Gus and Joe get separated from the girls and eventually run into the conman, where they are able to retrieve the car and continue on their way, minus the boat. It does not take long before the two friends realize that there is a reward for the conman.
Without a boat to fish with, Gus and Joe decide to go shopping to look for a new one, where they end up being sucked into a deal by a shyster salesman. The vessel was less than perfect and before long they had to return it to the boat yard. The conman is hot on their trail, but ends up missing them at opportune times.
Look for supporting roles by Nick Brimble as the conman, Gary Grubbs as the boat salesman and Carol Kane as Donna Waters. Directed by Christopher Cain, this hilarious comedy is filmed primarily in the south eastern United States.
