Giant from the Unknown is a science fiction film released in 1958. Directed by Richard E. Cunha, it stars Ed Kemmer, Sally Fraser, Bob Steele, and Morris Ankrum. The movie chronicles the story of a group of archaeologists who stumble upon a mysterious giant organism in a secluded cave in the California mountains. The film begins by introducing us to Dr. Frederick Cleveland (Morris Ankrum), an archaeologist who has dedicated his life to discovering the secrets of the past. Dr. Cleveland is convinced that a prehistoric civilization once existed in the California mountains and he is determined to prove it. He enlists the help of two other archaeologists, Wayne Brooks (Ed Kemmer) and Harold Mason (Bob Steele), and a local journalist, Janet Cleveland (Sally Fraser), to aid him in his quest.

As the team begins their exploration, they stumble upon a cave that appears to be the entrance to an ancient crypt. Inside, they discover an enormous organism which they believe to be the remains of a prehistoric man. The body is perfectly preserved and it is unlike anything they have ever seen before. The team quickly realizes that they have stumbled upon one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.

However, things take a bitter turn when the giant organism is accidentally revived by lightning. The creature, now alive and awake, begins to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting inhabitants of the nearby town. As the creature begins to cause chaos and destruction in its wake, the team realizes that they must act fast to stop it.

The group decides to take matters into their own hands and they set out to hunt down the creature before it can cause any more harm. As they track the creature's movements, they quickly realize that it is nearly indestructible and that their weapons are ineffective against it. However, they are determined to stop the giant from the unknown at all costs.

Throughout the movie, the audience is treated to a series of suspenseful encounters between the team and the giant organism. The scenes are well-done and the special effects are impressive for a movie released in 1958. The overall narrative is engaging and it keeps the viewer hooked until the very end.

One of the standout performances of the movie is that of Ed Kemmer, who plays the role of Wayne Brooks. His portrayal is convincing and he brings a sense of realism to the character. Sally Fraser also delivers a solid performance as Janet Cleveland, the local journalist who is swept up in the action.

Interestingly, the movie was shot in the same location as The Creature from the Black Lagoon, which was also directed by Richard E. Cunha. The similarities between the two movies are evident in the creature design and the general atmosphere of the film.

Overall, Giant from the Unknown is a classic science fiction movie that brings together elements of suspense, horror, and adventure. It is a must-see for fans of the genre and it remains a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of filmmakers from the past.

Giant from the Unknown is a 1958 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 17 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5.
