Get Over It is a delightful coming-of-age teen romantic comedy directed by Tommy O'Haver and premiered on March 8, 2001. The movie is influenced by A Midsummer Night's Dream and follows the life of Berke Landers (Ben Foster), who is dumped by his girlfriend Alison McNeal (Melissa Sagemiller), a popular theater girl, the lead in their school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Berke is heartbroken and lost, and with the help of his friends, he tries to win Alison back. As the saying goes, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else, right? Based on this, Berke opts to audition for the school play, score the lead role and make Alison jealous.

Berke's plan to audition for the play follows a series of misadventures and mishaps, including getting poisoned by a smoothie someone had laced with a potion intended for the play. The potion also seems to have an effect on Berke's best friend's dog, who develops human-like qualities and can now mouth words. Along the way, Berke falls in love with Kelly (Kirsten Dunst), a fellow student who is still grappling with her unresolved feelings for her ex-boyfriend. Kelly used to date the school's tennis god, Striker (Shane West), who now dates Alison. As expected, this develops into an awkward and complicated love triangle.

The themes of insecurities, teenage angst, and heartbreak are evident throughout the movie, and the characters portray these emotions in a relatable and humorous way. Berke's friend, Felix (Colin Hanks), provides some comic relief with his subtle wit and dry humor as he tries to navigate life as a high school teen. Additionally, Allison Janney's role as the drama teacher, Dr. Desmond Forrest Oates, is amusing and over-the-top, adding to the comedic experience.

The film's soundtrack is a standout, featuring a range of popular artists like Bow Wow Wow, The Donnas, and Vitamin C. The movie also has a few musical numbers, primarily in the school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which adds to the film's charm.

Overall, Get Over It is a lighthearted and feel-good movie that explores the complexities of teenage relationships with a touch of comedy, romance, and drama. The movie has a great cast and storyline, and while it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it is an entertaining and enjoyable watch.
