From Within is a horror film from 2008 directed by Phedon Papamichael and starring Elizabeth Rice, Thomas Dekker, Kelly Blatz, and Laura Allen. The movie is set in a small town in Maryland, where a series of gruesome suicides have been happening in the community. The plot follows a young girl named Lindsay (Elizabeth Rice) who is trying to uncover the mystery behind these suicides with the help of her boyfriend Aidan (Thomas Dekker) and his younger brother, Dylan (Kelly Blatz).

The movie opens with a creepy scene of a young boy being hunted down in the woods by a group of townspeople who are chanting some sort of incantation. The boy is ultimately captured, and we then fast forward to present day, where the town is plagued by suicides that seem to be connected to a supernatural force.

After Lindsay’s brother commits suicide, and her mother follows suit shortly after, Lindsay begins to suspect that something sinister is at play. She enlists the help of Aidan and Dylan to get to the bottom of things. As the plot progresses, we learn that the suicides are occurring because of a curse on the town that is passed down from generation to generation. Any member of the town who has a direct bloodline connection to the original witch is susceptible to the curse.

The trio discovers that the only way to break the curse is to find and destroy the original witch's heart, which is buried somewhere in the town. As they work to uncover the heart’s location, they are hunted by the townspeople who are intent on stopping them at any cost.

The movie is a classic horror film, complete with jump scares, creepy visuals, and a haunting soundtrack. The acting is solid, with Elizabeth Rice delivering a convincing performance as the lead character. Thomas Dekker and Kelly Blatz also hold their own as her love interests, with Blatz providing some comic relief at times.

One of the strengths of the film is its ability to build tension and suspense throughout. The town is shrouded in a sense of unease, and the audience is left wondering when the next suicide will occur or who will be the next victim. The supernatural elements of the story also add to the film's overall creepy factor.

The movie is not without its flaws, however. The plot can feel predictable at times, with some of the twists and turns being fairly standard fare for horror movies. The secondary characters are also not given much development, which can make it difficult for the audience to care about their fates.

Overall, From Within is a solid horror film that delivers on the scares and suspense. It may not break any new ground in the genre, but it is an effective addition to the canon of supernatural horror films.

From Within is a 2009 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6.
