Fred 3: Camp Fred is a 2012 American teen comedy film that stars Lucas Cruikshank as the titular character. It is the third installment in the Fred film series, which is based on the popular YouTube character created by Cruikshank. The movie follows Fred Figglehorn, a high-pitched and hyperactive teenager who is sent to Camp Superior by his mother. The camp's director, Floyd Spunkmeyer (Tom Arnold), is a former correctional facility officer who runs the camp with an iron fist. Fred quickly realizes that Camp Superior is not the fun summer camp he had hoped for, with activities such as rock breaking and obstacle courses.
Fred meets his new bunkmates, including the cool and rebellious Magoo (Jake Weary) and the shy and nerdy Diesel (Carlos Knight). Together, they form a plan to escape from Camp Superior and attend the rival camp across the lake, Camp Iwannapeepee. However, their plan is hindered by Spunkmeyer's constant surveillance and the presence of Penelope (Siobhan Fallon Hogan), a counselor who has taken a particular dislike towards Fred.
Amidst the chaos and hijinks, Fred tries to win the affection of his crush, Bertha (Leah Lewis), who is a counselor at Camp Iwannapeepee. He also discovers a hidden talent for performing stand-up comedy, which he uses to entertain his fellow campers.
Fred 3: Camp Fred features the same zany humor and over-the-top antics that made the character popular on YouTube. The movie also has a strong anti-bullying message, as Fred and his friends stand up to the tyrannical Spunkmeyer and encourage others to embrace their unique qualities.
Lucas Cruikshank delivers a memorable performance as Fred, capturing the character's unique voice and mannerisms. Jake Weary also shines as Magoo, adding a level of coolness and wit to the group dynamic. Siobhan Fallon Hogan plays the intimidating Penelope with great comedic timing, while Tom Arnold brings his signature energy and humor to the role of Spunkmeyer.
The movie's setting at a summer camp provides a colorful and lively backdrop for the story's hijinks. The camp's activities and competitions offer plenty of opportunities for laughs and physical comedy. The film also features a catchy soundtrack with songs by artists like Cody Simpson and Jordan Jansen.
Overall, Fred 3: Camp Fred is a fun and silly comedy that will appeal to fans of the YouTube series and those looking for a lighthearted summer movie. The film's positive messages of self-acceptance and standing up to bullies make it a great choice for young audiences.
