Fix is a 2008 independent film, directed and co-written by Tao Ruspoli. The movie stars Shawn Andrews, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Olivia Wilde. The narrative showcases a 24-hour journey of two estranged siblings, Milo (Shawn Andrews) and Bella (Megalyn Echikunwoke), as they try to retrieve Bella's ex-boyfriend, Gabe (played by Tao Ruspoli), from jail.

The movie revolves around the unconventional story of Milo, a struggling documentary filmmaker who is desperate to finish his project on his friend's life. However, he finds himself stuck in Los Angeles with no money, no crew, and no equipment. His sister Bella arrives, and they both figure out that he sold his camera gear to buy heroin. Bella, a beautiful, young woman who works as a stripper, who had not talked to Milo for a long time, decides to help her brother out.

While they both are walking away from the pawn shop, they hear that Bella's ex-boyfriend, Gabe, is in jail in a nearby town. Bella confides in Milo that Gabe has their joint savings, and they both head to the town to retrieve their money. Milo decides that he wants to film the journey on his iPhone and make it a part of his documentary. Bella agrees to do it, but only if Milo pays her for being in the movie.

As the movie progresses and they reach the jail, they find out that there is a warrant out for Gabe's arrest, and he is in deep trouble. With no cash and a lot of obstacles in their way, they set out on a series of misadventures, as they playfully argue, reconnect after years of living apart, and embark on a journey to free Gabe and retrieve their money.

Throughout the movie, the relationship between the siblings is portrayed in a raw and honest way. They bicker and argue, but also come to understand each other's lives better. Milo's character is complex, shifting from being a selfish and self-destructive addict to a caring and empathetic brother, who finally seeks his sister's advice when they both confront their childhood traumas.

The main cast of the movie has done a fantastic job of portraying their characters realistically. Shawn Andrews beautifully plays the role of Milo, capturing the essence of the character's inner turmoil and self-discovery accurately. Megalyn Echikunwoke's portrayal of Bella is charming, and she brings a lot of depth to the character, making her more than just the pretty stripper. Olivia Wilde, who is known for her roles in movies like Tron: Legacy and Cowboys & Aliens, is seen in a supporting role as a drug dealer, who helps the duo on their adventure.

What makes Fix a unique and compelling movie is the way it was filmed. The entire movie was filmed using an iPhone, and it adds to the realism and grittiness of the film. This 'found footage' technique gives a sense of urgency and immediacy to the story. It feels like we are on this journey with the characters, experiencing their highs and lows in real-time.

The cinematography and editing are also noteworthy, as they capture the essence of the environments they are in. The dark and dingy streets of Los Angeles are in stark contrast to the bright and sunny open roads of the countryside. The transition between the two environments is captured beautifully and provides a visual representation of the siblings' journey.

Overall, Fix is a well-written and well-executed movie that will leave you engaged and interested throughout. The movie deals with topics like addiction, family dynamics, and the impact of past traumas on present-day life. The actors do an incredible job of portraying their characters, and the 'found footage' technique adds an extra layer of authenticity to the story. If you are a fan of indie movies, thought-provoking narratives, and immersive storytelling, then Fix is a must-watch.
