Five Star Day is a 2010 independent drama film that revolves around a man named Jake Gibson, a young astrologer who sets out on a journey to find the truth about his life and the accuracy of astrology. The film stars Cam Gigandet as Jake, Guy Herbert as his roommate, and Will Yun Lee as a journalist who helps Jake on his quest. The film opens with Jake waking up on what he believes will be the luckiest day of his life according to his astrological chart. However, when he is later informed that his girlfriend is leaving him for someone else, Jake begins to question the legitimacy of astrology and the effect it has on his life.
In order to prove or disprove astrology, Jake sets out to find three people who were born at the same time and place as him but have had vastly different lives. The first person he tracks down is Yvette Montgomery, a high-powered lawyer who has everything Jake envies, including wealth, success, and a loving family. However, as he spends more time with Yvette, Jake realizes that she too has her own problems and struggles, and that her life is not as perfect as it appears from the outside.
The second person Jake finds is Wes Harte, a salesman who is struggling to make ends meet and is on the verge of losing his home. Through his conversations with Wes, Jake realizes that his life could have taken a much different path had he made different choices.
The third and final person Jake tracks down is Sarah Reynolds, a woman who has dedicated her life to helping underprivileged children in Africa. As Jake learns more about Sarah's life and the challenges she has faced, he gains a newfound appreciation for the importance of helping others and the impact that even small acts of kindness can have.
Throughout his journey, Jake also forms a close relationship with a journalist named Isaac, who is writing a story about his quest to disprove astrology. Together, Jake and Isaac navigate the ups and downs of their lives, and ultimately come to a deeper understanding of the meaning of fate, destiny, and the role that astrology plays in our lives.
Overall, Five Star Day is a thought-provoking film that explores complex themes of identity, fate, and human connection. While the premise of the film may seem far-fetched at first, the compelling performances of the cast and the heartfelt storytelling make it a truly engaging and moving viewing experience.
