Pound for pound the Barbel has to be the strongest fighting fish in UK freshwater. It is always a surprise and a pleasure to see the size that this particular species of river fish can grow to and to get a Barbel on your line is compelling angling indeed. What better way to learn the necessary skills, than from top all-round angler Des Taylor and his contemporary; none other than the four times World Coarse Angling Champion, Bob Nudd MBE. In this program we start our Barbel fishing education, under the guidance of Des Taylor in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside on the River Teme. Des explains where to look for your quarry, what tackle to use and which baits give you the best chance of catching the much sought after Barbel. We'll then move on to watch our old friend Bob Nudd MBE as he does battle on the River Wye with not only the fish but also the good old English weather. Never one to be beaten, Bob enthusiastically explains methods and demonstrates that inclement weather conditions can sometimes be the best for successful angling. And for the final stint we'll return to Des Taylor catching a tremendous scrapper on the magnificent River Severn. Packed full of tips, techniques, three great rivers and many good Barbel, this video is a must...look forward to seeing you on the riverbank! Introduction by Liam Dale.
