Fire is a 2009 movie that revolves around an adventurous trip of three friends, Tyler (Gary Dourdan), Lulu (Cosma Shiva Hagen), and Stefan (Ken Duken). Tyler is an American photographer who meets Lulu, a German singer, in a bar in Berlin. Stefan, Lulu's ex-boyfriend and a professional rock climber, joins them later. The trio sets off on a road trip to the eastern parts of Germany to explore the abandoned landscapes and make some music videos.

During their journey, they stumble upon an old abandoned factory, and Tyler gets excited to take pictures of it. While exploring the abandoned factory, they find an underground lab that holds a military experiment not known to the public. They also discover that the place is not entirely abandoned as they initially thought. Things take a sinister turn when an accident inside the lab causes a fire, and the trio are caught in the middle of it.

The movie is a survival thriller, with the protagonists fighting to overcome obstacles and escape the burning building. The protagonists find themselves in a race against time trying to rescue each other as the fire and increasing levels of carbon monoxide make it harder for them to breathe and continue their efforts. As the movie progresses, the challenges to find a way out of the building intensify, and their survival instincts are pushed to the limits.

One of the strengths of the movie is its use of visuals to create a tense and frightening atmosphere. We see flames flickering on camera, the heroes straining to summon the courage to continue their escape, and the faint glows of emergency lighting. Additionally, the action scenes are gritty and intense, emphasizing the claustrophobic atmosphere of the burning building.

Another curious aspect of the movie is how it portrays a military experiment. The experiment centers on the use of a substance that can become combustible without warning. It's a kind of biological weapon as it causes burns on any living things it comes in contact with. The protagonists must also avoid coming into contact with that substance as they try to find their way out of the laboratory.

The movie's cast is small, with only three main protagonists. Gary Dourdan, who rose to fame on television series CSI, plays the role of Tyler, spending the majority of the movie trying to find a way out. Cosma Shiva Hagen's Lulu is one of the more interesting characters, as she can communicate in German and English, which helps her to be a translator for Stefan and Tyler. Ken Duken's Stefan appears as the expert in rock climbing in the group, while his contribution to the team remains relevant as the story unfolds.

Fire is a movie that requires the audience's attention to details, as the story moves at a brisk pace, and the tension builds along with the flames. The movie's characters are well-realized, and their motivations for the decisions they make are understandable. Also, the movie poses thought-provoking questions on security and society's perceptions of weapons and hidden weapons research.

As an action-thriller movie, Fire excellently leaves the audiences on the edge of their seats, as they watch the friends attempting to make their way out of the laboratory alive. The story is tightly crafted, and the actors' performance keeps the sense of urgency of the narrative alive.

Overall, Fire is a must-watch movie for anyone looking to indulge in an intense and nail-biting thriller film. It's a movie that will keep you engaged until the last moment, presenting action and suspense until the very end.
