Final Run is a 1999 action thriller movie directed by Armand Mastroianni and starring Robert Urich, Patricia Kalember, and John de Lancie. The movie tells the story of Frank McBride (Robert Urich), a retired cop who takes a job as a security guard for a transportation company. McBride's first assignment is to escort a valuable cargo from California to Arizona. However, what seems like a routine job turns into a dangerous journey when a group of criminals hijacks the truck McBride is protecting.

The movie opens with McBride leaving his home with his daughter Nicole (Molly Matthau) and granddaughter, Madison (Gabrielle Fitzpatrick). It is immediately clear that McBride is struggling with a terminal illness and wants to make the most of his remaining time. He takes a job as a security guard for Boyd Industries, which specializes in transporting high-value products across the country, from California to Arizona. McBride's first assignment is to accompany a truckload of valuable cargo from the Boyd warehouse to a facility in Arizona.

The trip starts off smoothly, but things take a dangerous turn when a group of criminals, led by Rocco (Paul Koslo), hijacks the truck. Rocco and his team are after the cargo, which contains some valuable stolen items. McBride and his partner, Gil (Timothy Busfield), try to fight off the criminals, but they are outmatched. The criminals kill Gil, leaving McBride to fend for himself.

As the criminals drive the truck through the desert, McBride is forced to use his wits and experience to stay alive. He manages to escape and attempts to make his way back to civilization on foot. Along the way, he meets a woman named Karen (Patricia Kalember), who is also stranded in the desert. Karen is a veterinarian who was on her way to an animal shelter when her car broke down. Together, they try to outrun the criminals and make it to safety.

The movie also introduces us to a couple of interesting characters. John de Lancie plays Rich Reynolds, a former cop who now works as a consultant for Boyd Industries. He is the one who hires McBride for the job and is responsible for ensuring the cargo arrives safely. Reynolds is a bit of a loose cannon and has a past with McBride that adds an extra layer of tension to the story.

The other key character is Rocco, the leader of the criminal gang. He is a ruthless and dangerous man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He is assisted by a group of equally menacing criminals, including Clyde (Ted Shackelford) and Ray (Clint Howard).

The remainder of the movie is a tense cat and mouse game as McBride and Karen try to stay one step ahead of the criminals. Along the way, they encounter a number of obstacles, including harsh weather conditions, dangerous terrain, and the criminals themselves.

Final Run is an entertaining movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The performances by Robert Urich and Patricia Kalember are excellent, and they have great chemistry together. The action sequences are well choreographed and executed, and the desert setting provides a unique backdrop for the story. Overall, Final Run is a solid action movie that is worth checking out.
