Final Descent is a 1997 thriller film directed by Mike Robe and starring Robert Urich, Annette O'Toole, and John de Lancie. The story follows Captain Glen "Lucky" Singer (Urich), a veteran airline pilot who is grounded after a crash that killed his co-pilot and passengers. After months of therapy and recovery, he is reinstated and assigned to a new flight, but things take a turn for the worse when his plane is hijacked by a dangerous criminal (de Lancie) and his team.

The film starts with a flashback of the aforementioned plane crash that left Captain Singer traumatized and unable to fly. After months of therapy, he finally gets the approval to return to work and is excited to be back in the cockpit. But the excitement is short-lived when he realizes that his new co-pilot is someone he has never flown with before. Meanwhile, we see the sinister hijacker (de Lancie) and his team plotting, and it's clear that they have something big planned.

The flight takes off and everything seems to be going smoothly until the hijacker and his team strike. They take control of the plane, holding the passengers and crew hostage. The hijacker's motive is to force the pilot to fly to a particular destination, and Captain Singer soon realizes that this is not a simple hijacking but something much bigger.

What follows is a tense standoff between Captain Singer and the hijackers, with the lives of everyone on board hanging in the balance. Singer must use all of his skills as a pilot and his experience in handling pressure situations to try and save his passengers and crew while also trying to figure out what the hijackers are really after. We see the passengers and crew struggle with their emotions as they face this terrifying situation, and the tension is palpable throughout the film.

The performances by the lead actors are solid, with Robert Urich delivering a convincing portrayal of a seasoned pilot struggling with his trauma and facing an impossible situation. Annette O'Toole is excellent as the flight attendant who takes charge in the cabin and tries to keep the passengers calm, and John de Lancie is suitably menacing as the hijacker.

The cinematography is also impressive, with some thrilling aerial shots and well-choreographed action sequences. The film manages to capture the claustrophobic atmosphere of being trapped inside an airplane with no way out, and the pacing keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

Overall, Final Descent is a well-crafted thriller that delivers on the suspenseful premise. While it may not be groundbreaking in terms of its plot, it's a well-executed film that will keep audiences entertained and engaged until the very end.

Final Descent is a 1997 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6.
