Fighting Fish is a drama film revolving around the life of a talented painter, Leo (Val Emmich) who at the tender age of 21, loses his brother, Jamison (Tyler Langdon), in a tragic accident that happens in his presence. The memory of his brother's death and the guilt that it carries plagues him for years, causing him to turn to drugs and lose his raison d'être. As a result, he abandons his artistic talent and becomes a violent, self-destructive drug addict.

The film takes place in the present, whereby Leo is out of jail, clean, and on probation. He grudgingly spends his days working in his father's electrical business, hanging out with his ex-girlfriend, Kate (Anna Moore), and trying to make amends for his past by visiting the family of a friend he got killed with new graffiti art.

As he tries to rebuild his life, Leo falls into a new art world, unlike any other he has known before. He comes across Erica (Halley Feiffer), an artist who believes in him and wants to help him get his life back on track. She invites him to be part of her crew as they prepare to take over the city with massive graffiti art. The thrill of the experience and working with a group energizes him, and he becomes passionate about his art once more. They bond through their shared love of graffiti art and become more than friends.

Despite the sense of hope that comes with Erica's help, Leo is still haunted by his past, and when he runs into a former friend, Kyle (Tony Devon), he spirals into the bad habits he worked hard to overcome. He gets into a fight with Kyle as he attempts to intervene in his friend's drug deal. Seeing his friend's life spiral out of control, Erica offers Leo a chance to escape to New York to start anew. She helps him secure gallery representation there, and Leo finally finds a way to shift away from his suffocating past.

Fighting Fish is not just a film about art, but it's also about love, redemption, and passion. It shows how art can make a lasting impact in one's mind and gives them a sense of self-worth. The acting is exceptional, with the main actors giving their best performances. Val Emmich plays Leo with impeccable conviction, while Halley Feiffer portrays Erica with grace and charm.

The soundtrack of the movie is also worth mentioning. It features music from the likes of The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, and The Rolling Stones. The soundtrack complements the film's atmosphere and creates a raw and authentic vibe.

Overall, Fighting Fish is a compelling story that will keep you enthralled from start to finish. It portrays the struggles that come with trying to turn one's life around in a world that seems to be constantly against you. Watching Leo grow and find his purpose in life is a journey you'll want to be a part of.
