Fever is a 2002 independent thriller film directed by Alex Winter, starring Jordan Ladd, Rider Strong, and James DeBello. The movie tells the story of four college friends who travel to the Ozarks for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of their city lives, but instead find themselves embroiled in a dangerous, life-threatening situation.
The movie begins with the four main characters, Paul (Strong), Jeff (DeBello), Charlie (Zachery Ty Bryan), and Bo (Samuel Ball), driving in a car towards their destination. Along the way, they run into a mysterious woman named Marcy (Ladd) who they decide to take along with them to their cabin in the woods. Marcy is wary and keeps her distance from the group, always watching them with suspicion.
Upon arriving at their cabin, the group seems to be in for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. They spend their days swimming, hiking, and exploring the beautiful Ozarks. However, as the night falls, strange things begin to happen. The group starts to hear strange noises outside the cabin, and they realize that someone or something is watching them.
As the night progresses, the friends witness one of the local hunters, played by Michael Bacall, getting killed by an unknown assailant. Scared and unsure of what to do, the group decides to hide out in the cabin until morning. But as the night goes on, tensions start to rise between them, and they begin to turn on each other.
Fever is a movie that is filled with suspense and tension. The director does a great job of ratcheting up the tension, always keeping the audience guessing about what is going to happen next. The characters are well-drawn, and the actors all do an excellent job of bringing them to life. Jordan Ladd, in particular, shines as Marcy, the mysterious and enigmatic stranger who joins the group.
The cinematography in Fever is also noteworthy. The movie was shot on location in the Ozarks, and the scenery is breathtaking. The lush forests, serene lakes, and rolling hills all serve to create a sense of peace and tranquility that is sharply contrasted with the violence and chaos that erupts later in the film.
All in all, Fever is an excellent example of an independent thriller. It combines tense action, strong characters, and beautiful cinematography to create a movie that is both engaging and thought-provoking. If you're a fan of suspense movies, or simply looking for a good thriller to watch, then Fever is definitely worth checking out.
