Feast of Satan is a 1971 Spanish-Italian horror film directed by José María Forqué. The film features Espartaco Santoni, Krista Nell and Teresa Gimpera in lead roles. The movie explores the occult and satanic practices of a wealthy Spanish family called the Duque family. The film opens as Elena (Krista Nell), a young tourist from Switzerland arrives in a small Spanish village to start a new job as a governess for the young child, Ivan. Elena is greeted by a new acquaintance, Gonzalo (Espartaco Santoni), who seems to be deeply fascinated with her.

Elena soon discovers that Ivan's family is wealthy and powerful, but also mysteriously aloof. Strangely, the family also practices occult rituals inside their luxurious home, which terrify Elena. She learns that in their past, many members of the family have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. However, Ivan's mother, Countess Federica (Teresa Gimpera), seems to have a peculiar interest in Elena, and Elena finds out that she is not the only person living in the house.

As Elena delves into the dark world of the Duque family, she uncovers their dark secrets of devil worship and black magic, and their depraved nature. The Countess Federica in particular has been heavily influenced by Satanism, trying to maintain her youth and beauty through occult means. This involves the summoning of demons, animal sacrifices and other bizarre rituals.

Elena seeks help from her friend, Gonzalo, who is now equally petrified by the activities of the Duque family. Together, they start to unravel the mysteries of the house and their history. Meanwhile, the Countess Federica continues to conspire against Elena and try to control her by any strange means she can.

As the story unfolds, Diego, Elena's boyfriend arrives, only to become embroiled in the strange happenings in the Duque household. A series of dangerous twists and turns occur, leading to revelations about the family, their past and their future.

Feast of Satan is an eerie and suspenseful movie, with well-executed performances from the cast. The film is notable for its dark, Gothic ambiance, and the disturbing Satanist themes which are in contrast to the beautiful Spanish countryside scenery in which the movie is set. The film uses both suspense and horror tactics to keep the audience on edge throughout.

Overall, in Feast of Satan, director José María Forqué manages to create a captivating and engaging horror movie, leaving the audience wanting more. The film has an unnerving quality, with its well-crafted visuals, score and the constant suspense which creates a dark atmosphere of terror. It is definitely a must-see for anyone who loves classic horror films with suspenseful elements.
