An American spy finds himself stuck in Northern Italy during World War II and turns to the Italian resistance for help. A local resistance leader offers his attic as a safe place for the American to hide until he can be rescued, much to the dismay of his wife. The spy later sees the resistance leaders wife meeting the German officer charged with capturing him in what seems to be a romantic liaison.
