Elmyr de Hory is a notorious professional art forger. Clifford Irving cowrote an autobiography about the recluse Howard Hughes. Howard Hughes took his sweet time admitting the autobiography was a hoax. Orson Welles' career began with a phony radio report of a Martian invasion, causing widespread panic on Halloween. Even Oja Kodar has things to hide. Their stories are presented here--mixed, compared and contrasted by Welles himself. In this documentary, he explores fraud, fakery and the meaning of art. Or perhaps it's not a documentary. After all, Welles was a talented magician. He had tantalizing tricks up his directorial sleeve....
