Emporte-moi is a thoughtful French comedy and coming of age film from 1998. It details the life and dreams of a young girl who has trouble interacting with the difficult issues around her and often chooses to escape into the world of film. The movie is recognized for its playful sense of fun and consistent use of musical numbers and fantasy sequences, but there are also elements of real tragedy. It was filmed in Quebec and garnered substantial critical recognition upon its release. Emporte-moi, or Set Me Free, was picked as the best film of the year Toronto Film Critics Association.
